We focus on providing the basics to migrant children living on the Thai-Burmese border to help them reach their full potential. All Room to Grow programs fall under four areas:
Our nutrition programs aim to reduce malnutrition and its detrimental effects. We aim to provide children with food and the means to produce food so that they have the energy to study and play. We also aim to improve the education and capacity of local staff in purchasing and preparing food for children.
We foster children’s growth by providing nutrition dense food like fortified soy milk, eggs, milk and fruit.
We contribute to local groups supporting unparented children when there are food shortages in emergency situations by supplying dry foodstuffs such as rice and yellow lentils.
We support sustainable food projects through gardening projects that target nutrition deficiencies.
Safety and Shelter
These programs aim to improve the physical living conditions of children without parents by renovating existing buildings or constructing new shelters. We also work towards improving living conditions by providing important supplies and materials such as underwear, hygiene supplies, blankets and mosquito nets. In addition, we support projects which transform shelters into homes such as activities and supplies to promote children’s mental health and well-being.
We provide safe and comfortable homes by funding construction and renovation projects.
We help children feel safe and at-home through psychosocial and wellbeing programs.
We keep children healthy and happy by providing a range of supplies such as blankets and mosquito nets.
Focus on the Future
These programs aim to provide a long-term future for children without parents, equipping them with the skills and education they need to be successful adults. This includes support for scholarships to attend Thai schools including uniforms, tuition, and transport.
We support programs that help children to stay in school as long as possible.
We provide a scholarship program, including Thai language tutoring and school uniforms, to enable children to attend Thai schools.
We fund income generation projects to increase food sustainability, improve nutrition and develop skills.
These projects aim to provide immediate and short-term assistance in the case of an emergency such as a storm, flood, fire or refugee influx. Each situation is unique and is responded to as the circumstances require.
We assist communities affected by natural disasters like flooding and emergencies like fires.
We help out emergency affected communities by providing clothing, shelter, and food.
