When the alarm went off at 4:30am this morning, I really couldn’t think of a single reason why I would want to get out of bed. It was dark and cold. What could possibly be so important when sleep was so sweetly calling? No time for coffee, I walked out to the highway, just in time to meet my ride, the lovely folks at Help Without Frontiers. Their staff and volunteers had spent the night preparing 800 meals for a group of 700 refugees from Wah Lay who were sheltering in Pho Phra, less than an hour from Mae Sot. On the outside looking in…

A few weeks ago, Room to Grow received a donation for food for migrant children. Since learning about the severe levels of malnutrition affecting migrant children from Burma in the Mae Sot area, feeding and nutrition have been our top priorities. We drew up a budget and a plan and scheduled Friday November 12th as a day for renting a truck and delivering rice to two programs in the Pho Phra area. Of course, that was before the DKBA drove the military regime out of Myawaddy, before thousands streamed across the border and thousands were sent back.
