Student Voices (January 2009)

Students in various dorms were asked to comment on the project in January. Here are some of their responses: “I think it is very helpful that you support food and candles. Now we can eat meat two days per week. We've got curry with chicken, meat balls and eggs on special curry days. We also get a lot of vegetables like cucumber, pumpkin and tomatoes. November Writing Contest

“My life is a peice of fragment...” In November this year, Room to Grow held our first writing and drawing competition with students in the three dormitories we support in Umphium camp. The drawing contest was the most popular for the students, perhaps the writing contest felt too much like homework for some. While the drawing contest was fairly straightforward, we ran into a few problems with the writing. I had suggested that students write an essay on the subject of the challenges or difficulties they had faced in their lives.
