All they want for Christmas is…
This year, Room to Grow has been busy getting back to the basics. We are all about making sure children have the basic necessities they need to be safe, healthy and thriving. For this year’s holidays, we encourage everyone to get back to the basics: good food, good company, and lots of smiles and laughter.
Help us share the joy with children who are without families this year. We are looking for small donations to be able to provide underwear, shoes, clothes, and soap to young people in boarding houses. We’ll also be providing some dolls and books and games. And, of course, we’ll be sharing food, and having some good snacks too. Either for yourself, or in someone’s name as a gift, consider giving a donation as part of your holiday this year. If you need some ideas, here are some of the Christmas lists from Thailand:
Two front teeth
No, really. I want all my front teeth. And I’d also like a toothbrush and some toothpaste so I can keep my new teeth cleaner and healthier.
One year of hygiene supplies for one child costs $30.
During the rainy season I sometimes wear clothes that haven’t dried yet, and in December it gets cold and I don’t have enough clothes to stay warm.
One full set of clothes for school costs $100.
Sometimes I go barefoot, and this year Room to Grow gave me flip flops. But I still really need school shoes as part of my school uniform.
One pair of shoes costs just $3.
